Marilyn Peake is the author of both adult and children’s literature. She's one of the contributing authors in Book: The Sequel, published by The Perseus Books Group. In addition, she has served as Editor for a number of anthologies and novels. Marilyn's short stories have appeared in the following anthologies published by Double Dragon Publishing: Twisted Tails: An Anthology to Surprise and Delight, Twisted Tails II–Volume 1: Time on our Hands, Twisted Tails II–Volume 2: Out of Time, Twisted Tails II-The Complete Edition, Twisted Tails III: Pure Fear, Twisted Tails IV: Fantastic Flights of Fantasy, Twisted Tails V: Apocalypses Now and Then, and Illuminated Manuscripts. Coyote Crossing and Cannon Fodder: Operation Horse Whisperer, Marilyn’s short stories published by DDP with their own book covers, are listed among the "Fictionwise Recommendations" at Fictionwise.com. Bright Moon, Marilyn's fantasy genre short story set in modern-day China, is published on the wonderful Glass Cases Blog, run by publishing industry assistant Sarah LaPolla. Marilyn has also had a short travel piece about Cancun, Mexico published as part of a montage entitled America, America: Snapshots from a Continent in Eclectica Magazine. Marilyn’s trilogy of children’s fantasy adventure novels- -The Fisherman’s Son, The City of the Golden Sun, and Return of the Golden Age- -have received glowing reviews. The Fisherman’s Son Audio Book- -produced by a professional audio production company and read by the voice actor, Andrew Dollar- -was named a Finalist in the 2006 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards. Twisted Tails: An Anthology to Surprise and Delight is a Winner of the 2006 Dream Realm Awards. Both volumes of Twisted Tails II were named Finalists in the 2008 EPPIE Awards; and Twisted Tails II–Volume 2: Out of Time is a Winner of the 2008 EPPIE Awards. Twisted Tails II-Volume 1: Time on our Hands is a Finalist in two categories, "Anthologies" and "Science Fiction", in the 2007 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards. Twisted Tails III: Pure Fear received the Honorable Mention Award in the 2008 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards. Twisted Tails IV: Fantastic Flights of Fantasy is a Finalist in the 2009 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards. Twisted Tails: An Anthology to Surprise and Delight and Coyote Crossing were voted TOP TEN Finishers in the 2006 Preditors and Editors Readers Poll. Marilyn’s article entitled Tips for Writers: How Did Twisted Tails Become a Best-seller within Days of Publication? was voted a TOP TEN Finisher in the "Nonfiction Articles" Category of the 2006 Preditors and Editors Readers Poll. Marilyn is the Editor of the book, From Hollywood Experts and Published Authors: Words of Wisdom for Starving Artists- -a collection of articles originally published in her newsletter, The Golden Goblet. This book is a SILVER AWARD WINNER in the "Performing Arts/Drama" category of the 2007 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards. The Midwest Book Review includes this book on its Writer’s Bookshelf and states in their review: "Useful, practical, and an easy read, 'From Hollywood Experts And Published Authors' is strongly recommended for anyone aspiring to a career as a professional writer regardless of genre or media." Marilyn is also the Editor of the book, Inside Scoop: Articles about Acting and Writing by Hollywood Insiders and Published Authors, a second collection of articles originally published in The Golden Goblet Newsletter. This book was selected as a Finalist in two categories of the 2008 ForeWord Magazine Book of the Year Awards: "Performing Arts/Drama" and "Writing"; and it received the Honorable Mention Award in the "Performing Arts/Drama" category. This book is also a 2009 EPPIE AWARD WINNER in the "Anthology - Complete - Non-Fiction" category. The Golden Goblet Newsletter was voted a TOP TEN Finisher in the "Non-fiction Publication" category of the 2007 Preditors and Editors Readers Poll. Marilyn’s article, Archetypes in Fantasy Writing, was voted a TOP TEN Finisher in the "Non-fiction Article" category of the 2007 Preditors and Editors Readers Poll. Marilyn holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology. Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked as both a Social Worker and Staff Psychologist. Her Masters Thesis research was presented at an annual meeting of the Eastern Psychological Association.
